The Whole is Greater Than the Parts

Lessons Learned

Over a year ago we applied pair programming and discovered that pairing improved the quality of design and implementation without a sacrifice in productivity. In fact, from our experience, the productivity of the whole proved to be greater than that of the individual parts. (Our only "fly in the ointment" was that there are some people who don't work well together, and some individuals who are too individualistic to make pair programming work -- too bad!)
